Nothing to lose

“Nothin left to lose” is a powerful situation to be in.

Imagine going into battle against a man who has already lost his family, has no assets and no reasonable reason to believe anything in his future will be positive.  Even with inferior training or might, I like his chances a lot better than mine.

Imagine you are Microsoft, constantly battling as software upstart after upstart begins to fail, has nothing left to lose, and turns its product into an open-source, free online distribution model.

Imagine if you were as successful trading with real money as you are with your papermoney account, because somehow you were able to convince yourself that you had already lost the money and this was all just practice….completely focused on your approach, without fear or greed.

There is a great freedom that comes from having nothing left to lose.  It’s an extremely difficult mentality to achieve.  To attack instead of digging moats.  To pursue instead of resting.

I’m not there.  Not even close.  But it’s the direction I’m moving in, and it feels good.
