The importance of the enemy

Who made Ali and Frazier great? Frazier and Ali.

Having an enemy is motivating.

Having an enemy creates focus.

Having an enemy insures self-awareness.

Traders: Someone is taking the other side of every single trade you make. What are you doing to make sure you’re better than him?

Entrepreneurs: Another company wants your clients, present and future. What are you doing to make sure you get theirs instead? What company will be the first to die when you succeed?

You don’t need to hate anyone, or wish them harm…that’s stupid and a waste of energy. In fact, you don’t even need a real person (although it probably helps, if there is one already there!).

You just need to have a defined enemy, and a burning desire to defeat them.
