Twitterize everything

September 14, 2009 – 1:45 pm

One of the great things about twitter is the 140 character limit on posts.  It forces people to be concise and to the point.

That’s why I like using twitter when I write emails, proposals, ideas, business plans!, requests, etc

Before I put them in an email, I put them into twitter and make them fit within the 140 character limit.

The benefit is two-fold:

1)  It forces me to really think through to the core of what I want to accomplish….and filter out my own noise.

2)  The recipient is more likely to read the item and respond appropriately.  No guessing what I want or what I’m saying.

For business plans, it’s the same concept as an elevator pitch, just a little more well-defined.  For emails, requests and proposals, the benefit is obvious…especially to the recipient!

Try it and let me know if you find it to be a helpful exercise.
